Mental Health Involvement Network

The Mental Health Involvement Network is a new place for Mental Health Service User involvement in Leeds. Leeds has a number of Service User and Carer involvement groups that focus on mental health services. They are a huge value to the organisations they work with, but what if these groups got together to form a wider, stronger network?

Leeds Involving People have been given a big opportunity by NHS Leeds and Adult Social Care (Leeds City Council) to represent people who use mental health services at a new Joint Strategic Commissioning Group for Mental Health. This is the highest level of planning and decision making for mental health services in Leeds and we have a place there.

We want to make the best of this opportunity, which is why we are opening it up to all the mental health involvement groups in Leeds. But we don’t want to stop there. We want this new network to make the most of all the strengths and expertise the people in it have to offer.

Joseph Alderdice, an Involvement and Development Officer at LIP, have been speaking to groups of service users to find out what current hot topics are affecting the services they use to ensure that the issues that matter to Service Users and Carers are at the centre of commissioning decisions, where they belong.

If you want to get involved you can contact Joe at LIP on 0113 237 4508 or email: joe.alderdice@leedsinvolvement.org.uk.
