Positive attitudes

Results from a recent online survey show that people in Leeds are supportive of people with mental health problems.
The online survey, designed by NHS Leeds and Leeds Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust, as part of the national Time to Change campaign, captured the views of nearly 700 people from across Leeds. It found that the large majority of respondents did not believe in many of the myths surrounding mental ill-health.
Of the 695 responses only 2% believed the myth that you cannot work after you have experienced a mental health problem. Other key findings are:
* only 4% of respondents thought mental health problems are rare;
* 85% of those surveyed felt that people who have experienced mental health problems can recover completely; and
* 84% of those surveyed believed that you can be open about mental health problems without fearing you’ll be treated differently.

From 1 April 2010, arrangements are likely to change again, as LIP will be entering a new phase of work. All members will be contacted in good time to ensure that these changes are fully explained and understood. It is hoped that the Citywide Involvement Worker post will be advertised at the end of January.
Securing the future

Were are delighted to announce that LIP is to be awarded a joint-commissioned contract, lasting two years from April 2010. We feel that this is a vote of confidence from our partners and we look forward to developing our role as the main approved body for involvement in Leeds.
Leeds Involvement Project’s lead commissioner is now Leeds Adult Social Care, in partnership with NHS Leeds, Strategic Partnership Board and Leeds Partnership Foundation Trust. All four partners have agreed to enter into contract with LIP, having developed performance plans through which LIP will to continue to adapt to current and future challenges.
Quality Accounts
Written by Administrator Thursday, 08 October 2009 09:06
The Department of Health has launched a public consultation on the proposed framework for Quality Accounts and would invite you to respond. Quality Accounts will be legally required of all providers of NHS Healthcare from June 2010 (subject to the successful passage of the Health Bill). For the acute sector, the duty applies next year and it will apply to primary care and community services subsequently.
Quality Accounts are annual reports to the public on the quality of the services which an NHS organisation delivers. By producing a Quality Account, each NHS provider, led by their board, is committing to improve the quality of services it delivers and inviting the public to hold them account.
This consultation sets out the recommendations for the regulations and guidance supporting Quality Accounts in the first year, and is based on findings from a series of engagement, testing and design exercises over the past year.
Responses to this consultation will inform a report setting out the regulations and guidance for NHS organisations to use when producing their first Quality Accounts in 2010.
