January BME update

Over the past year the group has worked on a range of health issues. A report is being compiled on concerns and recommendations from the group.
In recent months, the group also worked on the following:
* Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust protocol for care and discharges
* Day Care services review
* Intermediate Care, highlighting the need for BME staff in care and nursing homes. Three members are now involved with the inspection of care homes, to help identify the gaps in culturally sensitive service provision. They will also assess skills of staff in nursing / care homes, specifically when dealing with disabled and older people, and people from diverse backgrounds.
