Social Care

Leeds City Council Adult Social Care - Adult Social Care helps all adults, including people who are vulnerable or who need extra support, to access flexible services tailored to their individual needs, to enable them to live as independently as possible.

Self directed support -  Leeds is developing our model of self directed support which will be introduced in 2009/10. Self directed support gives you more control and flexibility by changing the way in which assessments are made and support is provided. Self directed support enables you to choose the types of support you want to meet your needs, and have more control over how that support is received.

Health

NHS Leeds - Formerly 'Leeds PCT', NHS Leeds is responsible for ensuring that the people of Leeds have access to the health services they need, along with directly providing a wide range of community-based services across the city.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust - The Trust provides acute hospital services for the population of Leeds and the surrounding area and acts as a regional centre for a number of specialist services such as cancer and cardiac surgery.

Women's Health Matters - "We believe that health is affected by many things and that emotional and mental well being, social issues and physical health are all equally important.   We believe that women are experts about their own health.   We work with women across Leeds, sharing in the diversity of our communities.  We aim to work particularly with women who do not usually make use of services".

Mesmac - Yorkshire MESMAC is one of the oldest and largest sexual health organisations in the country. UNISON recognises the importance of its LGBT members and its responsibility for paying particular attention to our needs: that LGBT rights are trade union issues. UNISON's commitment to equality and to tackling discrimination is written into the union's rules. UNISON's support for LGBT rights has not come out of thin air. It is the consequence of many years of work and lobbying by our activists. Members meet as a self-organised group at branch, regional and national level.
