Black and Minority Ethinic Disabled People's Consultation Group
The BME Disabled People’s Group is part of LIP's Disabled People and Diversity Project, now in its third year. The core aim is to reduce inequalities in service provision, by increasing the involvement of disabled people from BME communities and empowering them to participate more effectively in health and social care services.

From the outset of the project, service providers from across Leeds have used the group as a forum to seek BME users’ views upon their services and strategies. The group continues to develop strength to strength, particularly in terms of members' expertise and confidence.
The group intends to continue working with service providers, addressing the the need to engage with BME disabled people in development processes, and ensuring cultural appropriateness of the services and equality of access.
There are places available in the group for disabled adults from any ethnic background, for anyone who wants to use their experiences to shape local health and social care services for us all.
